Mission
IBIMA is an academic association dedicated to promote the careful examination and dissemination of IT management solutions in today's business environment and to bridge the gap between research and practice. IBIMA invites research efforts, solutions, papers, and case studies to be published and shared with academics and practitioners worldwide.

Chairman

Dr. Khalid S. Soliman
Hofstra University, USA

Dr. Khalid S. Soliman has a PhD in Management Information Systems from the Fogelman College of Business and Economics, the University of Memphis, USA.  Dr. Soliman has worked and consulted in the past 20 years for several national and international corporations.  His research and consulting interest include electronic commerce, electronic services, cycle time reduction, interorganizational information systems, and strategic use of information technology to transform organizations and governments.  Dr. Soliman has published more than 32 articles in refereed journal as well as national and international conference proceedings.  His research has appeared in Business Process Management Journal, Communications of the AIS, Information & Management, Information Systems Management, International Journal for Educational Management, Issues in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Information Management, and Journal of Management Systems.  He has co-editored a special issue of Business Process Management Journal on e-government and co-editor for a special issue of Supply Chain Management: An International Journal on e-Supply Chain.  Dr Soliman has received numerous grants and awards from funding bodies that include Hofstra University and FedEx Center for Cycle Time research at the University of Memphis, USA.  Dr. Soliman chaired several IBIMA conferences.

Research

Dr. Zahir Irani
Brunel University, UK

Dr Zahir Irani is a Senior Lecturer and the Director of Postgraduate Studies in the Department of Information Systems and Computing, Brunel University (UK). Having worked for several years as a project manager, Dr Irani retains close links with industry, and is a non-executive director to a leading engineering company. He consults for international organisations such as Royal Dutch Shell Petroleum, DERA, BMW and Adidas, and has taken part in UK-Government funded trade missions to the Middle-East and Gulf region. Dr Irani reviews research proposals submitted to both the European Commission and the National Science Foundation (NSF) in the USA.

Dr Zahir Irani leads a multi-disciplinary group of International PhD students that research information systems evaluation and application integration. He is a Visiting Scholar to the University of Salford (UK) and a Visiting Professor at Deakin University (Australia) and Arab Academy of Science and Technology (Egypt). He is the editor-in-chief of the established Journal of Logistics Information Management and European Editor of the Business Process Management Journal. He has co-authored a teaching text-book on information systems evaluation, and written over 100 internationally refereed papers and received ANBAR citations of research excellence. He has spoken at conferences and guest seminars world wide, and is internationally known for his scholarly work in the area of information systems evaluation and application integration. Dr Irani is on the editorial-board of several journals, as well as co-and-mini-track chair to international conferences such as ICSTM-2002, ECITE, AMICS and HICSS. He has edited special issue journals, and publishes in leading international scholarly journals that include: Journal of Management Information Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, Information & Management, International Journal of Production Economics, to name but a few. Dr Irani has received numerous grants and awards from funding bodies that include the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), Royal Academy of Engineering, Australian Research Council (ARC), DERA, Dept of Trade and Industry and European Commission.


Conferences

Dr. Mark Srite
University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, USA


Mark Srite has a PhD in Management Information Systems from Florida State University, an MBA from The Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration, and a BBA in International Business from James Madison University.  Dr. Srite's research is focused in the areas of technology acceptance across national cultures, ERP implementation issues, group decision-making, and organizational culture’s influence on IT. He has taught courses on database management systems at the undergraduate level and information technology for managers in the MBA and Executive MBA Programs.  Dr. Srite's professional experience has been in the field of international business and information systems. Dr Srite has published in a number of journals including: Decision Support Systems, The Journal of Global Information Management, and The Journal of Computer Information Systems. He has also authored several of book chapters and reviewed for, presented at, and/or been on the program committee of a number of conferences including: The America’s Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS), The Conference on Global Information and Technology Management (GITM), Southern AIS, The Information Resources Management Association (IRMA) Conference, and The International Business and Information Management (IBIM) Conference.

Dr. Mel Damodaran

University of Houston-Victoria, USA


Dr. Meledath Damodaran is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Houston-Victoria. He is the Coordinator of the Computer Science and Mathematics Programs at UHV. Prior to joining UHV in August 1991, he taught computer science at various universities for over 11 years.  His research interests are in Software Quality Management, Parallel Processing, and Neural Networks. He is also interested in Software Engineering, Software Project Management, and Computer Science and Computer Information Systems Education.  He teaches a wide variety of courses including Operating Systems, Software Project Management, Software Engineering, Programming Language Theory, Computer Security, Database Design, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Architecture, and Information Systems.  Dr. Damodaran has also worked as a consultant to industries and governmental agencies. He was a Fulbright Scholar in 1992 and a Mellon Visiting Faculty Fellow in the Computer Science Department at Yale University in New Haven in 1989-90. Dr. Damodaran has also served as the President of Applied Computer Consultants, Inc. in Edmond, Okla., from 1984 to 1986. Dr. Damodaran received his doctorate from Purdue University in 1977.

Dr. Laura Anna Ripamonti

Laura Anna Ripamonti is a researcher at the Dept. of Information and Communication at the University of Milan, Italy.  She took her degree in Engineering of Business Management and Organization at “Politecnico di Milano” Technical University. Her Master’s thesis was about the possibility of using civic networks as a support for the economical development of Italian industrial districts.  In 2003 she took her Ph.D. degree in Informatics at the Computer and Information Science Department of the Milan State University, with the thesis: “Online communities of practice for knowledge sharing in SMEs”, based on a project aimed at the development of information and communications technologies to support SMEs networks.  Her research interest are mainly focused on investigating relationships existing between SMEs' networks, communities of practice and ICTs, and she has published several articles in refereed journal as well as national and international conference proceedings. She collaborates with Formaper – a special agency of the Milan Chamber of Commerce, for developing helping tools for SMEs facing the problem of choosing appropriate IT for increasing their businesses performances. She has coordinated several projects focused at promoting an innovative use of ICT in local bodies and among small-businesses, and she has carried out surveys on the state of the art of civic informatics in the Lombardy region, and collaborated with the Milano Community Network to design new development strategies.  At the moment she is also involved in the FIRB – Webminds project (founded by the Italian Ministry of Education University and Research, where she studies the development and use of ontologies for tracing knowledge contents.

Christiane Metzner is a full-time professor at the the Computer Science School, Universidad Central de Venezuela. Her professional experience spans over 25 years, with the last several years focused on software engineering, particularly design patterns, metrics and technologies for web development.

Krassie Petrova
Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand


Krassie has international experience as a manager and consultant in information systems development and information management, and of university teaching  in information systems, programming, data- and telecommunications, networking. Krassie is a Senior Lecturer in the School of  Computer and Information Sciences where she is the eBusiness major (Bachelor of Business) programme leader. Krassie holds under- and postgraduate qualifications in Computer Science, in Systems Organization and Information Systems, in Commerce, and in Tertiary Teaching. Her research interests include eCommerce applications, mobile commerce adoption, mobile commerce business models, information assurance, and the development of frameworks for ICT supported learning – including mobile learning. She  is the editor of BACIT – the online New Zealand Bulletin for Applied Computing and Information Technology.
