Title:
Development
of E-Sign Dictionary Using 3D Technology for the Deaf Community
Abstract: Although
there are many learning resources available for the general public to
learn a sign language, the use of electronic tools is likely to gain in
popularity. This is because with the rapid development in Information
Technology, electronic learning packages have become effective tools
for the general public in the learning process. This paper discusses
the development of e-Sign Dictionary, an electronic sign language
dictionary of the Malaysian Sign Language. It is a trilingual system
with instructions in English, Malay and Chinese. It is not only
suitable for the deaf community but also the general public. In this
regard, the objective of this system is to close the communication gap
between the deaf community and the general public, thus, fostering
better understanding between them.
