on ICT in Academia: Applications and use
Session
Description
Information
and communication technology in the university setting provides unique
challenges distinct from other organizations due to factors such as the
sheer number of users and stakeholders, widely dispersed locations in a
campus setting, variety of applications and platforms used, and funding
limitations, among others. This special session seeks to discuss the
problems and solutions of providing ICT services in a university campus
setting.
Topics include but are not limited to:
- IT
management structure and policies at universities
- Strategic
approaches to IT services at universities
- Benefits
of free and open source (FOSS) software
- Deployment
of campus-wide ICT services like VoIP and video conferencing
- Innovative
uses of IT for teaching and learning
- Use of
emerging technologies like RFID, Wi-Fi and Wi-Max in university campuses
- Data
center design and campus network management
- Data and
computer security
Papers will be evaluated for
originality, significance, clarity, and contribution. It is IBIMA
policy to send complete papers to two reviewers for full blind peer
review and
to send a summary of review back to the author(s) . Short papers/abstracts
will be reviewed by reviewer and/or the editor. All review comments and
suggestions should be addressed in the final submission. Submitted Papers must not have
been previously published or currently submitted
for publication elsewhere.
Conference proceedings will be
published as an e-book on a CD
