Title: Managing
the IT Investment Process for Organizational Transformation
Abstract: The IT investment management process is made up of five
stages: idea generation, business case generation, investment selection,
project implementation, and value realization. In each stage, insuring
involvement of the correct individuals and developing specific processes
can improve outcomes from that stage. Enhanced outcomes in each stage
improve the overall outcome from the IT investment. In particular, they
can lead to greater benefits and opportunities for organizational transformation.
We have developed a preliminary IT investment management assessment tool.
This tool will be refined through interviews and surveys. The research
will establish relationships between best practices and outcomes of the IT
investment management process.
