Title: Semantic Web Based Interoperability
in Extended Enterprise
Abstract: The interoperability
between heterogeneous systems is the solid foundation for an extended enterprise
to work seamlessly and effectively. Due to the distributed and heterogeneous
characteristics of different partner companies, it is difficult to implement
a satisfying and cost effective solution in the extended enterprise. The
Semantic Web has been proposed to add semantics to current web contents and
make the Web machine understandable and processable, thus making interoperability
a reality. In this paper, a framework based on layered ontology approach
is proposed to meet the specific requirements of semantic interoperability
in extended enterprise. A case study is also presented to illustrate the
framework.
