Title: Agent architecture for efficient decision making in a plant practising vibration monitoring

Abstract: The agent architecture proposed in the paper is to facilitate the coordination between different departments and intradepartmental conflict resolution. This has been demonstrated with reference to the maintenance and production departments of a company that operates vibration monitoring at its production facility.  The architecture is based on BDI (belief, desire, and intention) methodology.   The agent system architecture consists of information, middleware and interface agents. The information agents keep track of new information entering into the system from the outside world. The middleware agents perform different operations on the new information that has entered the system. The interface agents facilitate the interaction of the user with the system.
