Exploring Data Quality Problems in Engineering Asset Management Organisations
Abstract: With the advances in technology, the engineering
assets in organisations have grown in complexity and sophistication. The
use of information technology, deployment of information systems and collection
and handling of data with the objective of achieving optimum utilisation
of engineering assets has also increased rapidly. This paper looks at the
unique nature of engineering asset data, develops understanding of nature
of data quality problems and then further develops taxonomy of data quality
problems that will be valuable for any attempt at improving data quality
