Title:
A research note on the use of the Internet by small tourism enterprises
in Malaysia Borneo
Abstract: This research note reports the findings of field
research conducted within Malaysia Borneo. Using field interviews the authors
examined how small tourism enterprises (STEs) use the Internet for marketing
purposes. The authors also sought to identify the obstacles faced by small
tourism enterprises and some of the strategies they use to overcome these
obstacles. This paper improves knowledge on how small enterprises, specifically
small tourism enterprises use and overcome typical hurdles to adopting the
Internet. In contrast to previous studies in developing countries, the results
show that amongst participants there is a level of Internet maturity and
many enterprises view its use as the norm.
