Title:
Assessing Implementation of ICT Among Valuation Professionals in
Malaysia
Abstract: This paper examines implementation of information
and communication technology (ICT) in Malaysia. Study case will be among
valuation professionals providing services such as valuation, property management
and estate agency. The paper presents the results of a questionnaire survey
conducted in August and September 2006 among valuers in Malaysia. Generally,
valuers in Malaysia had used some of ICT tools in their routine jobs such
as computers, mobile phone, printers and some other basic technological paraphernalia.
However, the findings confirm a paradox that valuers in Malaysia are lagging
behind in the usage of advanced ICT applications that are already in use
in developed countries such as United Kingdom, Hong Kong and USA which have
well established their valuation practices. The findings imply that there
is room for improvement in the use of applications of ICT advanced technologies
to facilitate the provision of information within valuation reports. Valuers
need to provide additional information as well as enhanced quality of valuation
methods and reports.
