Health information provision can be a smarter business
Abstract: In this paper we analyze and discuss the importance
of medical portals having intelligent features, and how their presence helps
in meeting users’ demands for finding relevant information. In particular,
the article identifies push and pull features as the ones the portals should
have integrated for this purpose. Making an assumption that portals’ search
efficiency in finding medical information can be achieved through an introduction
of a number of ‘intelligent’ features, 23 medical portals and search engines
have been analyzed in order to critically assess presence of these features
and their role in retrieving required medical information online. Some recommendations
for future implementation are derived based on the results of the conducted
analysis.
