Title: Business Intelligence: Framework
and
State-of-the-Art of Empirical Research
Abstract: Business
Intelligence
(BI) systems are nowadays widely used in companies. Despite this
growing
diffusion a structured empirical investigation of configurations,
consequences
and contexts of BI is missing. A literature review revealed 37
empirical
BI studies which are often containing only single aspects of BI.
Therefore,
this article firstly proposes a framework to systematically analyze BI
in
companies. Secondly, the identified empirical BI research studies are
investigated
and their results are integrated in the developed framework. So actual
research
results can be generalized and research gaps can be identified.
Moreover,
the analysis shows that in future research a comprehensive empirical
investigation
of all framework components and their relationships will be necessary
for
a totally understanding of BI adoption in companies. Realizing this,
useful
advices for practitioners can be reached.
