Call for Papers
The main theme of the
workshop is on putting the fragments together, i.e. how to construct a customized
methodology from a collection of method fragments stored in a repository.
The overall goal of the workshop is to create concrete advice to organizations
on process construction and process tailoring. This will require interchange
of ideas and experiences between researchers and practitioners.
The workshop aims to share the knowledge and experiences of different
organizations in both the theoretical and practical aspects of constructing
and tailoring object-oriented and component-based development methods from
method components held (probably) in a repository. Method engineering integrates
theory, pragmatic guidelines and tool support. Participation will be by
submission of a position paper. Selection of these papers for the workshop
will be based on review by at least two members of the workshop organizing
committee.
Papers are invited on
both theoretical and practical aspects relevant to process engineering.
Topics include (but are not restricted to):
- Theories of method engineering
- Heuristic guidelines for method engineering
- Tools to support method engineering
- Method engineering (construction and tailoring) in the OO/CBD context
- Agile methods and method families
- Case studies of the application of method engineering
- Method and process patterns
- Method and process modelling
- Lightweight versus heavyweight processes
- Specific instances of method components e.g. for Agent methods, Agile
methods, web methods etc.
- Human aspects of development methods e.g. People-CMM
- Metrics for the quality of the constructed process/method
Submissions
Interested academics and practitioners are invited
to submit:
- Research papers: complete papers (5000 words
max.) with complete references section.
- Research-in-progress papers: a draft
paper ( 1000 words )
Papers will be evaluated for
originality, significance, clarity, and contribution. Each paper
will be exposed to a full blind peer review by two reviewers in the topical area.
Reviewers feedback/reports will be send back in full to
the author(s). All reviewers' comments and suggestions must
be addressed in the final submission. Submitted Papers must not have been
previously published or currently submitted for publication elsewhere.
For administrative purposes, please submit your papers
using the official conference procedure and should be directed to the conference general
chair at khalid.soliman@hofstra.edu
. Alternative e-mail
for submissions soliman@ibima.org
Please indicate on
your submission that it is for the ME-OO 2004 Workshop
Invited Sessions
You can also submit
a proposal to organize an invited session , and/or
tutorial. Proposals to organize invited
sessions should include the following information: name and address,
e-mail of proposer, title of session, a 100-word description of
the topic of the session, and a short description on how the session
will be advertised. Usually, session proposers solicit papers
from colleagues and researchers whose work is known to the session
proposer.
E-mail proposal to the conference general chair at khalid.soliman@hofstra.edu
Please indicate on your submission
that it is for the ME-OO 2004 Workshop
Each invited session will have at least 3 paper. The
session chairs will be responsible for all aspects of their sessions;
including, soliciting papers, reviewing, selecting, etc.
The review process
for invited sessions will strictly follow the review process for regular
submission. Papers will be evaluated for originality, significance,
clarity, and contribution. Each paper will be exposed to a full blind
peer review by two reviewers in the
topical area. Final camera-ready papers will be reviewed by one reviewer.
Papers must
not have been previously published or currently submitted for publication
elsewhere
The efforts of the Invited Session
Chairs will be recognized during the workshop and their names
will appear on the conference and workshop proceedings as Associate Editors
