Organizational Learning. Do Organizations as Entities Learn?

To say that organizations need to learn, within the context of the knowledge economy, might be appreciated as a redundant idea. It can be considered that all organizations should and need to learn, quite irrespective of the context or of the business environment. What depends on the context or on the business environment is the pace at which organizations should learn in order to remain competitive and to thrive – as the complexity and the volatility of the business environment increase, so should the speed at which organizations learn. Through this paper we are trying to answer the question regarding the idea of learning by organizations – do organizations as entities learn or is learning a process that only the individuals who work in the organizations in question are capable of completing?
